Cargo security has become an increasingly complex concern for the shipping and logistics industry, with physical risks now accompanied by threats involving digital systems, identity fraud and internal access.

In its latest Readers Speak poll, Container News asked readers: “What is the biggest threat to cargo security?”

The results identified cyberattacks as the leading concern, ahead of cargo theft, insider threats and identity fraud. While the responses reflect different perceptions of risk, they also highlight the range of vulnerabilities that shipping and logistics businesses must consider when protecting cargo throughout the supply chain.

Cyberattacks emerged as the most frequently selected threat, indicating that digital security occupies a prominent position in readers’ assessments of cargo-related risks.
