Telangana’s GI-tagged Tandur red gram has entered the Australian market for the first time, with an initial shipment of 2.5 MT dispatched from Hyderabad, as per a press release. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority facilitated the export, marking a new overseas market for the regional pulse. Tandur red gram is cultivated in four mandals of Vikarabad district and is the state’s first agricultural product to receive a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. The shipment will be imported by an Australian company. The consignment marks a step towards expanding global demand for GI-tagged Indian agricultural produce.
