Brazil recorded a new record in oil and natural gas production in April. According to data from the National Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANP), the country produced, on average, 5.64 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d). This mark surpasses the historical result recorded in March, of 5.531 million boe/d.

Oil production reached 4.34 million barrels per day in April, an increase of 2.2% compared to March and 19.5% compared to April 2025. Natural gas reached 206.7 million cubic meters per day, growth of 1.3% compared to March and 23% compared to the same period last year.

Pre-salt

The combined production of oil and natural gas in the pre-salt also registered a record, reaching 4.614 million boe/d. This result is equivalent to 81.8% of all national production, and also represents an increase of 3% compared to March and 23.6% compared to April 2025.

In this layer alone, extraction totaled 3.568 million barrels per day of oil and 166.4 million cubic meters per day of natural gas, obtained from 189 active wells.

Production in offshore fields totaled 98.1% of the country’s oil production and 88% of natural gas production. Operations conducted by Petrobras (the country’s main producer), alone or in a consortium, represented 88.98% of the total volume produced.

Among the producing fields, Búzios, in the Santos Basin, was the largest oil producer in the country, with 910.1 thousand barrels per day. Campo de Mero, also in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of natural gas, with 46.22 million cubic meters per day.
