China chip sector targets 80% self-sufficiency with US in its sights

SHANGHAI — China’s semiconductor industry plans to achieve 80% domestic self-efficiency by 2030, according to a target set by 13 top company leaders, as the country seeks to catch up to the U.S. through technological development and capacity expansion.
