Opening of Intermodal 2026 celebrates three decades of innovation and connections in the sector


The 30th edition of Intermodal South America was officially inaugurated, celebrating three decades of history, a historic milestone and one of the biggest logistics, cargo transport and foreign trade events in Latin America.

The opening ceremony brought together authorities, major market players and highlighted the fair’s role as a hub for innovation and strategic networking. Among the highlights of the ceremony were the presence of the CEO of Informa Markets, Marco Basso, and the Head of Infrastructure and Technology at Informa Markets Latam, Fernando Dascola, who reinforced the importance of the event to boost the development of the sector and connect companies to global opportunities.

On stage, authorities from the infrastructure sector, railways, highways, ports, airports were present, who contributed with a speech about the sector and reinforced the importance of the event.

Among them was the president of the CNT (National Transport Confederation), Vander Costa, who took the opportunity to highlight the relevance of integration between modes as a vector for national development. He made an important mention of the delicate moment we are experiencing with the war between Iran and the United States, which is making it difficult for oil to reach the world. “The only way to end this problem is to end the war and we cannot interfere with that. He reinforces that in the face of this event, the best thing at this moment is to have diesel at a higher price”, he reinforces that the country cannot stop.

He also highlighted the importance of discussions on reducing working hours and defended waterway transport as essential and the most sustainable for the market. And he also took the opportunity to mention the importance of Intermodal as a major driver for the sector with high-level debates.

The general director of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), Guilherme Sampaio, complemented Costa’s speech by highlighting and reaffirming the importance of the waterway sector. He also gave special emphasis to the approval of the railway network for the largest infrastructure project in the country, Transnordestina. The work, focused on the Piauí-Porto do Pecém (CE) connection, has around 80% of phase 1 completed, expected to be completed by 2027.

“Brazil has a vocation for transport. And events like Intermodal show that infrastructure connects people and promotes Brazil’s development and progress”, reinforces Sampaio.

Present were: Tomé Franca, Minister of State for Ports and Airports; Leonardo Ribeiro, National Secretary of Rail Transport at the Ministry of Transport; Federal Deputy Paulo Alexandre Barbosa, President of the Mixed Parliamentary Front for Ports and Airports; Alex Ávila, National Secretary of Ports at the Ministry of Ports and Airports; Guilherme Sampaio, General Director of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT); Frederico Carvalho Dias, General Director of the National Waterway Transport Agency (ANTAQ; Vander Costa, President of the National Transport Confederation (CNT); Pedro Moreira, President of the Brazilian Logistics Association (ABRALOG); Marcella Cunha, President Director of the Brazilian Association of Logistics Operators (ABOL); Jesualdo Conceição da Silva, President Director of the Brazilian Association of Port Terminals (ABTP); Bayard Umbuzeiro Filho, President of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Terminals and Bonded Enclosures (ABTRA); Elber Alves Justo, President of MSC.

After the appropriate presentations, the traditional moment occurred when the authorities cut the ribbon, symbolizing the official start of the fair. Opening the stages for the 4th edition of Interlog Summit. Intermodal 2026 takes place until April 16th, in the Anhembi District in São Paulo.
