ISLAMABAD — Even after the second round of peace talks between the U.S. and Iran collapsed when the White House canceled its negotiating team’s departure for Islamabad on Saturday last week, Pakistan is intent on retaining its facilitating role, and seeking to convert that position into economic gains by accessing cheaper Iranian oil and gas and leveraging its geographical influence.
