Vast carries out ExxonMobil’s first oil transshipment operation in Brazil

Vast Infraestrutura reported, this Wednesday (1st), that it carried out on March 28th, at Porto do Açu, in São João da Barra, in the north of the state of Rio de Janeiro, ExxonMobil’s first oil transshipment operation in Brazil. According to the company, the equivalent of one million barrels, produced in the Bacalhau Field, in the Campos Basin, was handled at the Vast Oil Terminal (T-Oil).

The company reported that the operation, which involved two Suezmax class tankers, the tanker Primeway and the shuttle Windsor Knutsen, was part of its logistics for transporting production from the Santos Basin field. And that T-Oil is the only private terminal in Brazil authorized to operate Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) class ships and that it has a license to handle up to 1.2 million barrels per day.
According to Vast, in 2025 it moved 30.6 million tons of oil destined for the foreign market. The volume, he reported, corresponded to 48% of all crude oil shipped via terminals in the country for export in the year.
The Bacalhau field is operated by Equinor, which has a 40% stake, in partnership with ExxonMobil Brasil, which has the same percentage, and Petrogal Brasil, which has 20%, under a production sharing regime. ExxonMobil Brasil is Vast’s most recent client, which serves 13 companies, and exploration in the field marks the company’s first production after more than a century in the country.
