According to the company, two additional kilometers of railway were built within the terminal, a structure that will allow it to increase operational capacity by up to 30%. With the new line, the expectation is to reduce waiting time for railway loading and unloading, in addition to increasing the volume of cargo handled in the logistics corridor.
Tiplam is part of the VLI Southeast Corridor, an integrated system that connects the Brazilian Center-West to Baixada Santista through the FCA. The corridor is strategic for both the import of fertilizers and the export of agricultural commodities, such as soybeans, corn, bran and sugar.
According to VLI’s director of operations in the Southeast Corridor, Marcelo Cardosothe objective of the investment is to guarantee more predictability, fluidity and competitiveness for railway operations linked to Brazilian agribusiness.
The movement of fertilizers has gained strategic relevance in recent years given the increase in agricultural demand and the need for greater logistical efficiency to supply the domestic market. The Port of Santos remains the main entry point for these inputs into the country.
The expansion of railway capacity also accompanies the growth of operations in the agricultural export corridor, considered one of the most important in Brazil for the flow of production from the Center-West.
