Hutchison Ports has incorporated 12 new Automated Rubber Tired Gantry cranes into operations at the Specialized Container Terminal I at the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas, representing a significant step in the terminal’s modernisation and capacity expansion programme.
The cranes, manufactured by ZPMC, arrived aboard the MV Xiang He Kou and were unloaded directly at the port before being commissioned into terminal operations.
The new ARTGs are fully electric and incorporate remote-controlled technology, optimising yard manoeuvres and strengthening operational safety standards.
The investment is designed to increase operational capacity, improve logistical efficiency and strengthen the Port of Lázaro Cárdenas’s competitiveness in handling the sustained growth of national and international maritime trade.
The Lázaro Cárdenas National Port System Administration acknowledged the investment as a demonstration of Hutchison Ports LCT’s firm commitment to the technological and sustainable development of the facility, recognising it as a significant contribution to the modernisation of the port community’s infrastructure.
