Polish transport and crane companies are gearing up for a major role in the construction of the country’s first nuclear power plant.
There is optimism that local operators will play significant logistical roles in the landmark project, as the Polish Heavy Transport Association (OSPTN) works with project stakeholders and road authorities to help ensure the industry is ready for the logistical demands of the nuclear project.
The association has already submitted draft legislative changes to the Ministry of Infrastructure, aimed at streamlining the administrative process for securing permits for oversized transports. It is also sharing its practical experience during meetings with the General Directorate for National Roads and Highways (GDDKiA), to help ensure the road network and permit systems are ready for the project.
And with such a major project now a reality, OSPTN president Łukasz Chwalczuk (below) told HLPFI that preparations for the safe and timely execution of the project cargo operations were already underway, with construction of the plant already in its early stages.
