EVI Safety Technology has launched Crew-First Mode, a new feature for its AI-powered onboard camera system. The technology aims to improve maritime safety while giving seafarers greater protection against routine remote monitoring.

The new setting allows the system to detect potential safety risks and alert crew members. At the same time, it limits access to camera footage from shore-based teams.

When Crew-First Mode is activated, shore personnel continue to receive safety notifications. However, the associated video footage remains onboard, and routine shore viewing is disabled.

According to EVI, the approach allows crews to benefit from AI-assisted safety monitoring without automatically sharing visual records of their activities with shore offices.
