The Greek government intends to introduce additional support measures to help Greece’s ferry companies cope with the higher fuel costs.

Greek minister of maritime affairs and insular policy Vasilis Kikilias confirmed in a morning television programme that the government intended to introduce new measures to support Greek ferry operators and address the impact of higher marine fuel costs.

Discussions have already taken place with representatives of ferry companies, and the details of the planned measures are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Asked during his TV appearance to channel ANT1 if this would be in the form of a subsidy, Kikilias did not disclose the amount or form of the assistance, saying the measures were still being finalized.
