Hong Kong-based Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has bunkered one of its dual-fuel vessels with 983 mt of bio-methanol at the Chinese Port of Yantian.
The fuel was delivered to the methanol-capable container ship OOCL Grace by supplier Sinobunker’s bunker vessel Daqing 268,on October 29. The operation marked OOCL’s first bio-methanol bunkering in Yantian. The bio-methanol was produced at CIMC Green Energy Technology’s plant in Zhanjiang, China. The company is the renewable fuel arm of CIMC Enric.
CIMC Enric plans to continue working with physical suppliers, specifically including Sinobunker, to deliver large quantities of bio-methanol in the Greater Bay Area, said Lu Shengwei Raymond, senior business development manager at CIMC Green Energy Technology.
