Rajen Bhatia, Honorary Secretary, ACAAI said, “Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has the potential to become a major cargo gateway for Western India, but operational reliability must match its infrastructure. While some improvements are underway, several operational challenges remain, spanning manpower, cargo handling, repacking facilities, IT systems, equipment availability, communication, specialised cargo handling and coordination. These and other bottlenecks are affecting shipment planning and cargo movement. Consequently, some shipments are being rerouted through Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad, increasing costs and logistical complexity. Freight forwarders are caught between customers and operational constraints beyond their control. Timely corrective action is essential to restore predictability and trade confidence.”
