A tanker, which early reports said it carries about 11,000 tons of sunflower oil, has broken free of its tow and is drifting off Shabla in northeastern Bulgaria.

A towing operation for the tanker had commenced from the Romanian port of Constanța.

According to available information, two tugboats were carrying out an operation to tow the ship, previously attacked off Odessa, bound for Turkey.

The tugs encountered adverse weather conditions in the Black Sea, and the towline parted. They reportedly were able to restore the line, but in the process, one of the tugs collided with the tanker.
