Brazil and Bolivia expand air agreement and release number of flights between the countries

Disclosure

Brazil and Bolivia took an important step to strengthen air connectivity and commercial relations between the two countries. This Monday (30), a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in São Paulo that modernizes the bilateral air services agreement. From now on, companies will be able to freely define the number of passenger and cargo flights, according to market demand. The initiative was formalized between authorities from both countries and updates a historic agreement signed in 1951.

“Strengthening international air connectivity is a priority for the Federal Government. This agreement with Bolivia expands opportunities for the sector, reinforces cargo and passenger transport and directly contributes to economic development”, highlighted the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.

The new understanding eliminates limitations on the number of air frequencies between the two countries, expanding the operational freedom of the companies, which now define routes and schedules according to the capacity of the airports. In practice, this tends to increase the supply of flights, stimulate competition and generate direct benefits for passengers and the production sector.

The memorandum also consolidates the possibility of exclusively cargo flights, with greater operational flexibility. The measure strengthens logistics between Brazil and Bolivia and opens new opportunities for bilateral trade, especially in chains that depend on agile and efficient transport.
