During the meeting, workers reported apprehension about the possible loss of exclusivity for port labor, which could open up space for the entry of professionals from outside the current system. According to the commission, this change could result in salary reductions, increased precariousness and advancement of outsourcing processes.
Another point highlighted was the risk of weakening collective negotiations. The representatives warned that possible changes could concentrate powers in management bodies, compromising the autonomy of organized categories and the ability to negotiate directly with port operators.
On the same day, the president of the Dockworkers Union, Bruno Santos, was also in the Chamber of Deputies, where he had the opportunity to speak with the deputy Leonidas Cristino. The conversation reinforced the impacts of possible changes and the need to preserve the historical rights of port workers.
The mobilization in Brasília is part of a broader strategy by the category to expand institutional dialogue and seek political support in the face of the transformations under discussion in the Brazilian port sector.
