Government announces package of works to modernize Port of Cabedelo

O Port of Cabedelo will be covered by an investment package of R$105 million for infrastructure works. The term of commitment was signed between the Union, through the Ministry of Ports and Airportsa Companhia Docas da Paraíba (Docas-PB) and the state government.

The resources will be allocated mainly to dredging the access channel and expanding the shelter pier, interventions considered strategic for increasing the terminal’s operational capacity. Of the total forecast, R$64.5 million will be invested in dredging, while R$40.5 million will finance the extension of the jetty.

The dredging includes the deepening and widening of the channel, in addition to expanding the radius of the evolution basin, with an estimated volume of around 976.5 thousand cubic meters. This will make it possible to receive larger ships, reducing logistical costs and delays in operations.

The expansion of the shelter pier should increase the stability of the channel, minimizing silting and contributing to the preservation of the infrastructure over time. The expectation is that the works will make maneuvers safer and more efficient, reducing operational restrictions, such as docking limitations due to tides and weather conditions.

The signing of the agreement took place during a ceremony that also marked the delivery of the works of Patos Regional Airportwhich received investments of R$40.6 million. The project included the reconstruction of the runway, expansion of infrastructure and modernization of navigation systems.

With the new investments, the Port of Cabedelo reinforces its strategic position in the Brazilian Northeast, increasing its competitiveness and capacity to meet the growing demand for cargo movement in the region.
