The initiative follows the decision of the Federal Court of Auditors, which had determined the precautionary suspension of approximately R$2.6 billion for identifying flaws in governance and risks in the application of public resources.
With the signing of the commitment, the federal government and the Port Authority are moving forward in building a more robust management model, including clear rules of control, supervision and accountability, as required by the TCU.
The document formalizes the necessary guidelines to ensure greater transparency in the use of public money and establishes the basis for resuming the flow of investments in the project.
The expectation is that the measure will contribute to unlocking federal funding and maintaining the work schedule, considered strategic for urban mobility and logistics in Baixada Santista.
The Santos–Guarujá tunnel is considered one of the main infrastructure projects in the country and involves the construction of the first underwater tunnel in Brazil, significantly reducing travel time between the two cities.
