Social Communication of the Federal Police in Santos
An operation carried out by the Federal Police (PF) this Sunday (10) resulted in the seizure of 341.5 kilos of cocaine in the Port of Santos. The drug was hidden in the hull of the ship “Green K-Max 1”, which was leaving for Poland.
The merchandise was in sea chestor sea tank, a compartment located in the internal part of the hull, below the waterline, which is used to capture seawater necessary for cooling the engines.

The procedure for inspecting and removing drugs from this location is considered strategic and risky. In addition to the Federal Police, the action included the participation of the Brazilian Navy, Federal Revenue Service and Port Guard.
After removal, the drugs were sent to the Federal Police headquarters in Santos, which reported that it had opened a police investigation to investigate the perpetrator of the crime and identify those responsible for international drug trafficking. The seized substance will also undergo technical expertise.
According to the Federal Revenue, the selection of the ship for the inspection did not occur randomly. The operation was the result of rigorous management and risk analysis work. Auditors and agents monitor routes, crew behavior and histories of vessels operating at the Santos pier, which made it possible to discover the illicit material before the vessel began its international voyage.
The seizure highlights the strategic importance of the Port of Santos in combating transatlantic trafficking. As it is one of the main exit points for goods destined for Europe and Africa, the terminal is frequently of interest to criminal organizations. To combat increasingly sophisticated drug concealment methods, security forces have stepped up the use of divers and hull scanning technologies.
