Barbosa highlights that Franca, as executive secretary who succeeded minister Silvio Costa Filho, is the guarantee of maintaining public policies aimed at the sustainable development of the port sector, relevant for foreign trade and the competitiveness of the Brazilian economy in the global market.

“The appointment of executive secretary Tomé Franca to hold the position of minister for the next nine months was a very wise decision, because it will allow work to continue. He is in-depth knowledge of everything that goes on in the department, and we are sure that there will be a very important continuity of work for our entire port segment.

I wish Tomé that he will have a very successful, productive administration and that he will be very happy in his new position”, says Barbosa, adding: “ATP always seeks, in partnerships between the private and public sector, to guarantee legal security and a business environment favorable to investments in Brazil, generating jobs and income in the communities where the ports operate”.

ATP’s executive director, Gabriela Costa, reinforces that Tomé Franca as holder of the portfolio guarantees the continuity of work in the sector: “He gives us a lot of peace of mind so that we can continue working on projects that have already started. In particular, because ATP, as a technical association, develops many partnerships, in work carried out in conjunction with MPor. Thus, we are confident that the work and projects will continue to be led by the portfolio. Tomé is a very competent person, who has accumulated diverse experiences and, in recent years, has been very present in the ministry. We are sure of the continuation of this success.”
