The port support operator TOGETHER announced the completion of the acquisition of the group’s entire operations Intertug in Colombia and Mexico. The transaction, announced this Friday (29), involved an investment of US$30.5 million to purchase the remaining 30% of the companies that make up the group.

Saam has already held a 70% stake in Intertug since 2021, when it entered the Colombian market through the initial acquisition. With the completion of the operation, the company assumes full control of the business and expands its strategic presence in Latin America, now including direct operations in the Mexican market.

According to the company’s CEO, Hernan Gomezthe investment is aligned with the company’s growth plan until 2030 and reinforces Saam’s position as one of the main providers of port towage services on the continent.

The expansion occurs at a time of strengthening maritime and port activities in the Americas, driven by the growth of international trade and the demand for increasingly efficient and safe operations in the region’s main ports.

The company’s towage division, Saam Towage, currently has a fleet of more than 200 tugboats distributed in approximately 90 ports. The company carries out, on average, around 155 thousand operations per year, serving different segments of commercial shipping.

Among the services provided are support for container ships, oil tankers, bulk carriers, roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels and ships transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG). The company also operates in operations linked to offshore oil exploration and supporting the development of natural gas terminals.

The acquisition reinforces Saam’s strategy of expanding its presence in strategic markets and consolidating an integrated platform for maritime and port services across the region, following the growth of global transport and logistics chains.
