Suape records growth of 29% in the first quarter

The administration of the Port of Suape, in Pernambuco, reported, this Thursday (23), that movement at the terminal, in the first quarter of 2026, was 6.5 million tons of gross cargo, 29% more than the 5.04 million tons handled in the same period of 2025. According to the port authority, the result was driven by operations with liquid bulk and gases, a segment that recorded 4.2 million tons handled and an increase of 43% compared to the first three months of 2025.

The main loads handled in this segment were petroleum derivatives, crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas, fuel ethanol and biodiesel. Together, they represented 65% of all products moved in Suape from January to March.
According to data released by the terminal’s administration, in the first quarter of 2026, the movement of solid bulk grew 64.7% compared to the same period in 2025 and reached 390.7 thousand tons. The main products moved were wheat and petroleum coke. In the container segment, there was growth of 3.4%, with 167.5 thousand TEUs handled.
The biggest movement was in cabotage cargo, which registered an increase of 52% and 4.5 million tons, equivalent to around 70% of the total operated by the port in the quarter. In the segment, arrivals grew 27% and accounted for 69% of total volume, while shipments increased 34%.
