SGK Kishore, Executive Director, GMR Airports, said at the Aviation India and South Asia Summit & Exhibition that airports are evolving beyond passenger transportation to become ecosystems that drive economic growth. For India’s air cargo and logistics sector, this shift places greater importance on integrated airport infrastructure, industrial connectivity and operational efficiency. Kishore highlighted Hyderabad’s growing aerospace ecosystem, including airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities and an engine MRO facility, demonstrating how airport-linked industries can attract investment and support specialised supply chains. He also pointed to the need for sustained engagement with global manufacturers and resolving operational barriers such as customs. Such measures are important in building efficient, globally connected aviation ecosystems that can support trade and logistics growth.
