According to a press release, a 1.5-tonne shipment of kiwis from Arunachal Pradesh was sent to Dubai as part of a trial aimed at assessing demand for the fruit in overseas markets. Facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the consignment from Ziro is being showcased at a LuLu Hypermarket in Al Qusais. The trial will offer an indication of how the fruit is received by retailers, including expectations around quality, packaging, and presentation. Rather than a large-scale export launch, the shipment is an initial market assessment that could help determine the scope for future commercial supplies. The exercise put the region’s growers in focus as India looks to broaden export opportunities for agricultural produce from the Northeast.
