Maritime tourism generates R$200 million in Rio at the end of the 2025/2026 season

The 2025/2026 cruise season in Port of Rio de Janeiro came to an end with significant numbers for tourism and the local economy. According to the balance sheet released at the end of operations, the cycle generated an estimated impact of approximately R$ 200 million in the economy of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

Over six months of operation, the terminal recorded 84 berths of 28 shipsbeing 21 on international routesconsolidating the port of Rio as one of the main gateways for maritime tourism in Brazil. During the period, around 240 thousand visitorsincluding passengers and crew, circulated around the city.
The economic impact was felt directly in sectors such as hotels, restaurants, transport, commerce, tourist tours and local servicesreinforcing the strategic importance of cruise tourism for the economic development of Rio de Janeiro.
The last call of the season was made by the ship Costa Diademawhich brought almost 5 thousand passengers to the terminal, ending the season with intense movement at the port and in the central region of the city.
The numbers reinforce the port’s role as one of the main hubs for national maritime tourism, in addition to contributing to the generation of direct and indirect jobs throughout the sector chain.
Market experts highlight that cruise tourism remains an important economic engine, especially in port cities, where each stopover moves the entire service chain, from tourist reception to local commerce.
