The Santos Port Authority (APS) took another important step in preparing the necessary infrastructure to support the expansion of port operations in the coming years. Last Thursday (11), the state-owned company signed a contract with the Portlog consortium for the implementation of a logistics condominium in Santos, a project considered strategic to meet the expected growth in cargo movement at the Port of Santos.

The project will be installed in an area of approximately 240 thousand square meters located on Avenida Augusto Barata, between the Alemoa and Saboó neighborhoods, a region considered strategic as it is close to the main access corridors to the port complex.

The project envisages the construction of a truck parking lot with an initial capacity of 400 static spaces, in addition to all the support infrastructure necessary for logistics operations. The proposal is to organize the flow of vehicles accessing the port, reducing impacts on urban traffic and avoiding congestion on the access roads to the Santos complex.

According to the president of APS, Anderson Pomini, the initiative is directly linked to the future growth of container movement in the region.

“This logistics condominium will be essential support to meet the demands of the future Tecon 10 container terminal”, highlighted Pomini.

In addition to parking, the project includes the implementation of a large logistical support area with at least 86 thousand square meters of buildings. The space will be able to house warehouses, warehouses and companies specialized in maintenance, certification, purchase, sale, rental and transformation of containers, strengthening the port’s logistics chain.

According to the contract, the structure must be sized to serve up to 530 operational vacancies in the future, with gradual expansion as demand increases. The expectation is that the condominium will become one of the main support points for the operation of the container cluster on the right bank of the Port of Santos.

The project is part of a broader set of logistical investments planned by APS. Two other logistics condominiums are planned to be implemented in Cubatão and in the Conceiçãozinha region, in Guarujá, expanding the capacity to support port operations.

After approval of the Basic Implementation Plan (PBI), Portlog will officially take over the area and will have a period of up to three years to make all the planned infrastructure available. The assignment contract has a duration of 20 years.

The initiative reinforces the Port Authority’s planning to prepare the Port of Santos for a new phase of growth. With structuring projects such as Tecon Santos 10, expanding logistics capacity becomes essential to guarantee operational efficiency, reduce bottlenecks and maintain the competitiveness of Brazil’s main port on the international stage.
